California Dreamin'

Sunday, June 24, 2012

I had a dream last night. I dreamed that R and I had gotten married and I was pregnant with our girl. I saw myself with a swollen belly, laying on the couch with my head on his lap while he watched TV and I read a book. His hand playing with my hair and also occasionally stroking my belly. My heaven. I also saw myself coming home from work to R passed out on the couch with our daughter sleeping on his belly. I was also pregnant with our second child - a boy. It was the happiest that I'd ever been in my life. I wondered if other people feel this with their husbands. Then I woke up. Did I see my future?

I woke up to his sweet snoring. How can snoring be sweet? I guess I just find his snoring cute. He's self conscious about it though and always seems embarrassed by it when he catches himself snoring. I just laugh.

I left R snoring away this morning to go for an early morning bike ride. I was giddy from the happy dream that I had last night. Great riding weather this morning - not too hot and not too cold.

I'm a Horrible Cook But Kiss Me Anyway

Saturday, June 23, 2012

I was trying to surprise R with a spectacular meal, wearing my sexiest black lingerie outfit when he walked in the door from his 10 hour drive back from Oregon. Oh geez, it didn't quite turn out. I. Am. A. Horrible. Cook. I might as well just give up cooking right now. The dishes turned out a complete mess (looked like dog food. Who messed up pasta?!), dirty pots and pans everywhere, oven burnt, and to top it off, I got banana bread batter all over my lingerie outfit. Oh yes, I burned my banana bread too. Not quite what I planned....

When he walked in, he immediately busted out laughing. Great... :/  I'm sure I looked like a hot mess. He did taste my dishes and said that he liked it. A lot. But I knew he was just being nice. We ended up having a living room picnic with Chinese food takeout and wine he brought back from his trip. It was still quite romantic, even though the kitchen was a mess and there was still the burnt smell in the air. We stayed up all night talking about how we spent our days without each other, took a romantic drive up the coast to our "lookout point" since it was a really warm night, and made sweet love with the top down in my convertible with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks.

Next time, I'll have to leave the cooking up to R. Or I'll just order takeout.:P

Finally Coming Back!

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Well, its about time. He's finally on his way back. Woohoo! He will be driving for 10 hours to make it back home for dinner tonight. TEN HOURS?!? Who drives 10 hours for a business trip?! I would have just hopped on a plane for the 2 hour flight. But that's how he rolls, I guess. I would go nuts driving that long.

Trying to think of how best to surprise him. Here's my view out my office window as I daydream away instead of working on my spreadsheets.

Hurry Back!

Sunday, June 17, 2012

I just got off the phone with Ryan. I miss him so much. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder. He's been a lot more corny lately. It's nice to see him soften up and be more expressive with what he's thinking. I used to have to guess at it when we first met.  Ryan, hurry up and come up, will ya?

More Than a Year and Still Going Strong

Saturday, June 16, 2012

My last post was thanksgiving last year. Oh, how time flies. Work is going well and so is my relationship with honeybuns. He's away in Oregon right now for a job. After more than a year together, I feel really good about it. The passion is still strong, we still laugh until our face hurts, and I feel like we've reached a point in the relationship where we've opened up enough to each other to show our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. And we STILL want to be together. Ha! I'm planning a special dinner date when he comes back from his business trip. Hoping that I won't mess up my next cooking attempt. =\ I saw this garden while cycling through the hills today. I thought it would be a nice background so I think I'll try it out.
