Back from Thanksgiving Eating Bonanza!

Sunday, November 29, 2009

I think I've packed on the pounds from this Thanksgiving. This was my first Thanksgiving together with Hunnybuns. Since his family is local, I went over to meet his parents (Oh boy...!) for Thanksgiving. I was very nervous. First time meeting his mom and his sister. I've met his father a few times when he joined us on a couple of our surfing trips. He was a fun guy and we got along great. (This was before Hunnybuns and I were together.) But we all know that I have to impress the women in the family in order to be accepted. Fathers are easy, I think.

Surprisingly, no embarrassing stories to write about! Oh GOSH, another boring post. It all went off without a hitch. Hunnybuns and I went for a quick surf sesh (I LOVE surfing with Hunnybuns! Probably because it's the sport that enabled us to meet in the first place) in the morning then headed for his parents. We arrived there earlier in the afternoon to get a mountain bike ride in with his dad. I didn't really want to ride my bike that day because I was just being lazy, but it was a good idea to "prep" our bodies for the feeding frenzy that would occur later. No one else had arrived yet. Nothing eventful on the bike ride. His dad and I got along great. And since I'm a SLOW-ASS biker and his dad was taking it easy, I had some quality alone time with his Pops. He was very easy-going, nice to talk to. (What a relief!) We came back to more of his relatives coming into town. I was a nervous wreck by this time. All his aunts, uncles, siblings, nephews, OMG.... I tried to be on my best behavior - no stupid jokes, no drinking alcohol, play nice with the kids, try to be normal, don't be goofy, don't play with my hair, don't fidget, no burping, no farting, be confident without coming off stuck up, etc...

To not be rude, I ATE EVERYTHING that they put in front of me. Even things that I didn't like - like cranberry sauce and pecan pie. I don't know what about it just turns me off. Maybe because it's too sweet? I just like my turkey plain with gravy, no cranberry sauce. And I just HATE pecans! I much prefer the pumpkin pie (Oh yes, I had that too. I tried to "chase" the pecan pie with a slice of pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream!) At the end of the dinner, I was stuffed, and I think they liked me. Or at least, they thought I was tolerable? I tried to be personable, and not be my anti-social goofy self. First impressions are everything, right? I can show my true self if/when his family and I spend more time together. I don't think that will happen though. I see us kinda living our own lives, and seeing his parents here and there.

Anyways, they seemed only glad that I had a job, wasn't psycho, that he was very happy with me, and that I loved him. Good enough, right?

I was afraid to get on the scale this morning. I could just feel the extra roll around my stomach. So, this morning, Hunnybuns and I packed our bikes and surfboards and drove up north for a LONG bike ride and surf sesh afterwards. What was to be a 2 hour bike ride turned into a 4 hour bike ride. Uhhh... we got lost, so we needed to forego our surf session. I just looked at it as me being able to burn more calories. It was kinda fun getting lost in a new place like the place where we were biking. (I don't know the name =\) Good thing I had my camera with me! I could NOT believe there were places like this in Los Angeles area! Lavender fields? Horse ranches? Cows? It looks like the beautiful fields that you see out in the country in France (Mimi, you should live here =), not the traffic congestion, tall buildings, plastic surgery haven that LA is known for.

Lavender fields - it smelled SOOO GOOOOD! I just wanted to keep inhaling the scent around this field!

On the road again after the lavender bushes:

And.... we're lost... but it's a nice street!

I loved how these flowers smelled too. I couldn't quite figure out whether they were roses or what! I don't think they were. Leaves were different. But they smelled very similar. I wish this was my house. (Yes, we're still lost here... =\)

So how did we get back? I knocked on one of these house's doors to ask for directions. Hunnybuns refused to do it. WHAT IS IT WITH MEN AND ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS!?!? HAH???

Primp Before Exercising?

Saturday, November 21, 2009

I'm usually not a morning person. However, this morning, I got up at the crack of dawn. I have no idea why. So instead of staying in bed, I forced myself to go for a morning bike ride. These were my thoughts as I was getting ready: "Exercise is good for me, exercise is good for me, how else am I going to keep my butt from drooping? Yes, exercise is good for me.... but I'm SO TIRED!!" Hunnybuns was snoring his ass off. So there was no chance that I could fall asleep again. This is one thing that I have to make sure that I do each time I'm sleeping next to Hunnybuns. I HAVE TO make sure that I fall asleep before him, because of his snoring. Otherwise, I can't fall asleep. I swear sometimes I feel like he's going to take the roof off with his noises. Anyways, I digress.

I didn't bother brushing my teeth or washing my face. What's the point? I simply rolled into my bike clothes, pulled my hair into a ponytail, lathered on the sunscreen, and off I went. It's not like I'm gonna be talking or seeing anyone that I know on the road this morning, so who cares. I saw a lot of people jogging. I can't believe how many people are awake this early and out and about, biking, jogging, or walking their dogs. Every single woman though didn't look like they had just rolled out of bed like I did. They had make up on! Lipgloss, blush, hair done. It doesn't make sense. Who puts on makeup before they go exercising? Maybe it's a Los Angeles thing? I did see a fair amount of women with boob implants, walking their dogs, on my route. The makeup is just going to melt off with the sweat anyway, right? Unless they're not planning to sweat. But if you don't sweat, it's not exercise, right? Sigh... I felt a little out of place, looking like I just woke up - which I just did. Egh, but who cares....

Back from New Moon!!

Friday, November 20, 2009

I just came back from watching New Moon. OH MY! It was SOOO goooood. I cried my eyeballs out for a lot of the movie - probably because I've felt exactly what Bella has felt before. But it was so good. Exciting, emotional (at least for me), heart-felt, it was sooo gooood. By the way, I didn't know that movies were now $11.50 at the theaters. That's the most that I've ever paid for a movie. But I think I'd watch it again. Maybe for a matinee.

The theater was PACKED! Needless to say, 90% of the audience were giggling teenagers. I was sitting next to this Mexican guy with big gold chains around his neck and tattoos on his arm. He was so annoyed by the teenagers that he said to his girlfriend, "If those effing teenagers don't shut up, I'm going to get up and kick their ass!" I admit it was a little annoying - they were laughing, giggling, yelling out "OOOH!", "AHHH~~" or screaming every time Taylor Lautner came out without his shirt on. Man, that kid looked good - he has an 8-pack, (or was it a 10 pack) in the movie. No, I think it was an 8-pack. I actually stared and counted. LOL. Counted more than once. HAHAHAHA. Hunnybuns rolled his eyes and thought it was amusing. =P

New Moon

Thursday, November 19, 2009

OMG, New Moon comes out tomorrow! I can't wait to see it! I wonder if Hunnybuns will let me drag him to see it. I'm sure the entire audience will be female teenagers. ButI don't care. I HAVE TO SEE IT! Already read the book series three times... =\ No, I'm not obsessed, you kidding?

Birthday Lovin'

Yesterday was Hunnybun's birthday. He hates birthdays. Or more like, he hates his birthdays. Or actually, more like, he hates getting older. I wanted to throw him a surprise party, but I don't think he would have liked it. Or maybe he would have, I'm not sure. Maybe next year? He's one of those types that doesn't want to make a big deal about his birthday and has been developing a complex about getting older.

Despite his disdain for his birthdays, it was quite a nice day. Actually, a great day. I took the day off today to spend it with Hunnybuns. I made him breakfast in bed - oatmeal with fruit for breakfast (he's trying to be healthy, otherwise, I would have made pancakes.) Or more like, I added water to oatmeal that I poured out of the box. I didn't actually "make" it. We all know how glorious my cooking skills are. =\ Then we went back to bed for some lovin'. Slept. Then ordered pizza delivery for lunch. (So much for his diet.) Back to bed again for some sweet lovin', then sleep again for a cat nap. Then a short 1 hour bike ride, then back to bed for some more sweet lovin'. I was like, "OH? REALLY? uhh... okay!" =D Then out for a romantic dinner for 2 at our favorite Italian restaurant down the street. Back home for a few more tricks up my sleeve before the night was over. They involved body oil, strawberries, and a blind fold. I think he liked it.

It was one of the best days that we spent together. I think back to the journey it took for me to get to this point with him. Everything that I went through, the heartache, the tears. It was so hard while it was happening back then, but looking back, it was so worth it. I'm living my dream life with my soul mate. I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. I couldn't imagine being this happy, living. I thank my love psychic everyday for her help and guidance.

I'm going to attempt to bake a cake this weekend. I hope it turns out tasty, AND that he'll eat some. I'm still wondering, would he have liked a surprise party?

Bike Cleaning - Do NOT try this at home

Monday, November 16, 2009

Since I haven't cleaned my bike since I bought it uh....2 years ago, I decided to clean it this weekend. I don't know the first thing about cleaning my bike so I went on youtube and watched about 10 different videos on how to clean your bike. Well... 2 hours and $30 later, LOOK AT MY HANDS!!!!

The plastic gloves that I was wearing got ripped during the cleaning and all the oil and dirt and grime got on my hands. Little did I know what was happening until I was done! I was horrified. Because the cleaning solution was a mixture of paint thinner, the nail polish on my fingers were destroyed, not to mention my manicure. I was sick from all the fumes from the cleaning solution, and I was scared that I would get cancer from the direct skin contact with the solution. As soon as I thought I was done, I took off the gloves and washed my hands 10 times. The washing didn't help!!!!! I had the black oil and grime all under my nails, and there was no way it was coming off without professional help. So, I rushed to the nail salon and asked for manicure to fix it. As soon as the lady saw my hands, she said, "ACK! What happened!! You making my job very hard!" 30 minutes of scrubbing later, the lady said, "I can't get these stains off your nails and skin without hurting you. How about we paint your nails black?" And she was serious. NOOOOOOoOooooOoOOO~~~!! =( So I came home with pink nails with black outline around it. Plus my hands smell like oil and gas.

On top of that, the floor of my deck has black oil stains on it and the paint is coming off from the cleaning solution. Uhhh... I can't seem to even get the stains out. Great... Hunnybuns is going to kill me. (he hasn't seen it yet!)

So, if you have any inclination to clean your bike, let the man do it. Or better yet, take it to a bike shop to do it. Or pay a kid to do it. I won't ever do it again. I'll just take it to the shop and save myself all the trouble. I should start a mobile bike cleaning service for people like me who need this. I wouldn't clean the bike myself, of course!

Church Shopping

Sunday, November 8, 2009

This morning, I felt well enough to continue my "church shopping." I went to one close by actually. I don't like to draw attention to myself, so I usually sneak into the sanctuary after everyone else has gone in and take a seat in the back. WAY WAAAY back. I don't like to talk to people. It's not that I don't like people. It's just that when I'm church shopping and I'm among so many people that I don't know, I just want to be left alone and not have people ask me questions about my family, my friends, where I live, where I hang out, when I can come again next, etc.... So when I go to church, I sneak in, then sneak out as QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. Today was no different. I run in and run out.

But have you ever gotten text messages during the service? I know that I should be focused and concentrating on the service instead of checking my text messages. The messages are going to be there after the service! But why do I feel the need to check the message IMMEDIATELY? As soon as I get them? What's the hurry?

This morning, I got 3 very unimportant text messages over the course of 10 minutes during the service. I ignored my first text. I was fine. I didn't even check it. Not even a flicker. I saw the text come in, and ignored it. Then my phone vibrated again from a 2nd text. Umm... my hands started getting itchy. I was nervous. I wanted to reach for the phone. But I tried not to pay any attention. Then a 3rd text came in. URRRRGH!! I COULD NOT RESIST! I grabbed for my phone to check my very unimportant text from my co-worker about the grape jello that I was supposed to make and bring to work tomorrow. =\ Bad Haley BAD! =\

I'll just turn my phone OFF during the service from now on. Or, maybe I'll just leave it in the car.

Slow Recovery

Saturday, November 7, 2009

I lived! AHHHHH~~~ to H1N1! I think I'm over it now. Sort of. I am still hacking cough now and then. But at least it's not to a point where I feel like my head is going to explode with each cough now. One WHOLE WEEK of laying in bed, moaning, hacking up I-don't-know-what, sweating my ass off from the chills. Sigh... my back hurts. Darn it! I knew I should have gotten the H1N1 vaccination. Grrr....

I'm FINALLY getting back to normal. Yay! THANK GOD, I didn't give it to Hunnybuns. He's still nice and healthy. I've been cooped up in my house for the last 7 days. I feel so restless. But I was winded from just walking up a flight of stairs. So, I guess I'm still a little weak. I devoured a ton of food this morning. I felt like a savage, shoveling all this food into my mouth. I'm surprised I didn't get any on my hair. I think Hunnybuns was scared. I've been craving salt and sugar, so have been eating lot of salted nuts and gummy bears. I love the clear and red gummy bears. All other colors - I don't really care for.

Tomorrow, I'll try going for a short easy hike. I need to get outside. It's been so gorgeous but I've needed to stay indoors. I miss riding my bike and surfing too.

Is it possible to re-catch it? No, right?
